Thinking Home Demo

Production Release: v1.0.3
You can download Thinking Home v1.0.3 (990K) here. Documentation is included. The software will run as a demo until you enter your registration number. While operating as a demo, the application will not save documents, nor will it store events and macros into an interface. Other than that, the demo mode is fully featured. You will receive your registration number when you place your order.

Some browsers may have trouble downloading binary files like the download link above. If this happens, try getting the BinHex version of Thinking Home, which is a bit larger (1.3MB), but should work with all browsers.

For Thrill Seekers Only: Try out the latest Thinking Home, v1.1b3 !

System Requirements

Thinking Home will run on most 68K models with CPU's prior to 68040. Please feel free to try it with any model and, if it doesn't work to your satisfaction, we will gladly give you a full refund, including any shipping.

  • System 7.0 - MacOS 8.6 or later.
  • Power Macintosh, iMac, G3 or Macintosh w/ 68040 CPU.
  • 2 MB of RAM
  • 3 MB of disk space.

Special Notes:

  • Announcements require the Speech Manager (comes with the operating system).

  • Voice commands require PlainTalk™ Speech Recognition (on Thinking Home CD and on the web)

  • The FireCracker interface requires a special cable, described in the AppleGuide. You may order this cable from us on the order form.

  • Due to high-speed timing, Firecracker does not work with USB serial adapters. All other interfaces are completely compatible with USB serial adapters.

  • The iMac sound input hardware is different than most models and requires either MacOS 8.6 or a third party extension, MacSpeech PlainTalk Enabler. This extension is available at www.macspeech.com.

Important note for System 7 users:
Some System 7 users of Thinking Home may have found that events scheduled in the evening are actually sent 12 hours earlier (i.e. in the morning). This can happen with Thinking Home v1.0.3 and earlier using Macintosh system software that does not have the Appearance Manager installed. It does not affect users operating with MacOS 8 or later.

We have created a patch utility that will correct this problem. It "patches" the v1.0.3 application and the corrected resulting application will have "1.0.3p" in the about box, splash screen and the lower portion of the Finder Info window. Download the updater here.
