What's new in v1.1.7

This latest update addresses a few minor bugs in Thinking Home and also addresses some firmware issues in The ActiveHome interface. Also, the Desktop Remote is included for both Mac OS 9 and X.

System Requirements

Thinking Home v1.1.7 requires Mac OS 9 or X. To run on Mac OS X, you will need a USB serial adapter that has driver support. Any Keyspan model will work. Approximately 7 MB of disk space is needed.

Thinking Home 1.1.2 is still available for older models.

  • System 7.0 - MacOS 8.6 or later.
  • Power Macintosh, iMac, G3 or Macintosh w/ 68040 CPU.
Version 1.1.2 will even run on most 68K models with CPU's prior to 68040. Please feel free to try it with any model and, if it doesn't work to your satisfaction, we will gladly give you a full refund, including any shipping.
  • 2 MB of RAM
  • 3 MB of disk space.

Special Notes:

  • Announcements require the Speech Manager (comes with the operating system).

  • Voice commands require PlainTalk™ Speech Recognition (on your MacOS CD and Apple's web site)

  • The FireCracker interface requires a special cable, described in the AppleGuide.

  • Due to high-speed timing, Firecracker does not work with USB serial adapters. All other interfaces are completely compatible with USB serial adapters.

  • The iMac sound input hardware is different than most models and requires either MacOS 8.6 or a third party extension, MacSpeech PlainTalk Enabler. This extension is available at www.macspeech.com.
